Abstract

Lake Sentani is one of the tourist destinations in Sentani, Jayapura, Papua Province which still requires a more effective tourism development strategy in destination management, so the role of the government and local community is needed, in order to increase regional income sources (PAD) and the community's economy by pay attention to the concept of sustainability. The aim of the research is to analyze the form of government and community management, analyze visitor perceptions and preferences and develop effective strategies to increase the tourist attraction of Lake Sentani and increase the number of visitors. The method in this research uses Theoretical Descriptive Analysis, analysis of visitor perceptions and preferences using a Likert Scale, strategies to increase attractiveness and increase the number of visitors using SWOT Analysis. The results of this research are that this form of tourism management still naturally receives full support from the government in the form of facilities and infrastructure and from the community in the form of tourism awareness, tourist perceptions in order of interest in visiting, namely tourist attractions (score 4.01), tourist infrastructure (score 3, 65), supporting facilities (score 3.65), tourist facilities (score 3.64) and tourist preferences in order of tourist attractions (score 3.45), tourist facilities (score 3.43), supporting facilities (score 3, 42), tourist infrastructure (score 3.41). The development strategy is based on SWOT (IFAS+EFAS) that the strengths and opportunities of tourist attractions have (score 7.8) weaknesses and threats have (score 4.7).
