Abstract

The aim of this research on ‘The Economic Contribution of Indonesia Intangible Cultural Heritage By Means of Visitor Spending (Study of Solo Sekaten Traditional Festival)‘ is to investigate whether spending made by Solo Sekaten visitors bring about economic contribution to local area of Solo in Central Java, Indonesia, or not. This quantitative research is an economic analysis using survey as primary data collection and assessment. About two hundred and fourteen questionnaires were distributed to and collected from Sekaten visitors, surveyed about their demographic profiles, trip characteristics, trip segment and visitor spending. The study discovers that the utmost visitor spending was on shoping; followed by food and beverage; then lodging. Another finding is that overnight trip visitors’ spending were greater than those of day trippers. This study concludes that Sekaten has economic contribution to the economy of Solo through visitor spending; and that overnight trippers, moreover the ones who stay in hotels should be encouraged to visit the city, moreover Sekaten as its traditional festival. Recommendations were given, especially to Solo Sekaten stakeholders, that is to maintain and enhance coordination and collaboration; also to prepare and provide better services and qualities in relation to Sekaten activities; and to deliver bundles of tourism packages through collaboration with nearby tourist destinations.
